FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE NEVER REPEATED
The very first thing someone sees when approaching your home is your landscaping. If your yard and flower gardens are not well maintained, the initial impression is not favorable. Even if you are very careful with the maintenance of your home, the initial impression is that you either do not care particularly how your home looks, or even worse, that the house has not been treated to proper pride of ownership inside AND out. This instantly puts a buyer into a “ho-hum” or “let’s negotiate” mood, if it doesn’t put them into a completely negative attitude toward your home.
Neatness counts! Even if you are not a master gardener, you should be sure that grass is not growing in your gardens, and that where it does grow is neatly trimmed. This is a very small investment that will net you much more than you will know on the final outcome of the sale of your home.
Curb appeal gets the people into the home. You can’t sell a home that no one visits. It does not matter how many homes your Realtor has sold in the past year if that Realtor cannot get people to come inside! You hire a Realtor for his or her expertise. Please do not be offended when they do their jobs. That Realtor wants your house to sell nearly as much as YOU do. It is important to listen to those who have heard from the buying public as to what will sell your home. A GOOD Realtor will make observations and then try to help you perform what is necessary in the least expensive way possible. |
